Cross Infection Control
for Patients' Safety
Cleanliness and hygiene really matters to us and for our patients when they visit the practice.
The Department of Health set minimum and Best Practice hygiene standards for all dentists to comply with. Best Practice is what we have achieved and can be demonstrated by our continued Audits with the Infection Prevention Society, proving that our efficacy is of a consistently high standard.
Our Central Sterillisation Room, situated on the first floor of the practice means that we no longer have to clean and sterilise equipment in the dental surgery at the same time as treating you. The room includes ultrasonic cleaners and the top range of autoclaves which sterilise the instruments.
We regularly test, check and audit to make sure all our equipment is performing correctly. Where possible we use single use items as an alternative to processing for re-use. When processed for re-use the items are stored correctly to avoid decontanimation. The team is trained in all aspects of cross infecion control including hand hygiene, waste disposal and instrument transportation.
We care about the safety of our staff and patients and insist on the use of gloves, masks, protective aprons and eye protectors. We were inspected by the Care Quality Commission in 2013 and met the standard for Cleanliness and Infection Control.
